Delete your Plainr account

About this page

This page explains how to delete your account in Plainr, the food-processing scanner app, and what happens to your data when you do. Deleting your account is permanent and takes effect immediately. It cannot be undone.

Delete it in the app

1. Open Plainr and sign in to the account you want to delete.
2. Tap the gear icon at the top right of the screen to open Settings.
3. Scroll to Danger zone and tap Delete Account, then tap Continue.
4. Read the list of what will be deleted, type DELETE in the box, and tap Delete account.

When the server confirms the deletion, the app signs you out and clears your data from that device. If the deletion does not go through (for example, you are offline), nothing is deleted and the app tells you so, so you can try again.

If you can no longer sign in

If you cannot get into your account any more, e-mail us at support@plainr.app with the subject "Delete my Plainr account". Please write from the e-mail address your account uses — if you signed in with Google, that is your Google address — so we can tell the request comes from the account holder. We will delete the account and everything listed below, in the same way the app does, and reply to confirm.

Data the app keeps on your own phone cannot be reached by us. After a deletion by e-mail, uninstall Plainr from that phone to remove it.

What is deleted

Your profile photo is removed from our file storage first; then your account is deleted, and everything stored against it is deleted with it:

• Your account and login: your e-mail address, and the link to your Google account if you signed in with Google
• Your username and your profile photo
• Your body data and goals: year of birth, sex, height, activity level, the answers you gave when you signed up, your calorie, protein and carb targets, and your daily water goal
• Your scan history and your food diary, including meals you logged
• Your weight and water log entries
• Your streak, XP, Streak Freezes, badges, daily quests and quest chests, and your weekly league standing
• The log of your actions that drives your streak, quests, badges and league, including the time zone recorded with each one

There is no waiting period: the account and this data are deleted when you confirm.

What is kept

Plainr keeps a shared cache of product information — what a barcode is, its ingredients, and its processing score — so that scanning is faster for everyone. Those records describe products, not people. They are not linked to any account, contain no personal data, and are not deleted with your account.

Deleting your Plainr account does not delete your Google account. If you signed in with Google, you can also remove Plainr’s access in your Google account settings.
